15 October 2007 - At Witney Magistrates Court on Monday 15th October the Judge allowed BMWs application to stop up a right of way which had existed for 2,000 years without any requirement for an alternative route to be provided for horses. Pedestrians and cyclists, on the other hand, will have an alternative route provided for them. For Details please click BMW Story

July 13 2007 - URGENT - The RideUK Feasibility Study is nearing completion and you are urgently asked to complete a simple questionnaire on bridleways and where you ride - Simple Questionnaire. Your answers will help BHS Cornwall and the County Council with RideUk and in also in our general campaign for better bridleways.

June 29 2007 - The BHS is urging all horse riders to contact there local M and ask for there support in expanding the coastal access plans to include all access for all non-motorised users. See Coastal Access

May 2007 - The County Council have published the Draft Countryside Access Strategy for Cornwall (incoporating Rights of WAy Improvement Plan) - It may down loaded from http://www.cornwall.gov.uk/index.cfm?articleid=14391
Please do read it carefully. We have contributed and worked hard to get a good deal for horse riders, but getting firm commitments has been very hard. However definitive map problems, anomalies, and omissions have been recognised. These are the issues that are of great importance to riders.
You do have the opportunity to comment on the plan before the final version is agreed and published.

7 March 2007 - Mingoose to Chapel Porth - BRIDLEWAY. - GREAT NEWS - Following the Public Inquiry the Inspector the inspector has CONFIRMED the Modification Order to upgrade the FP from Mingoose to Chapel Porth (nr. St Agnes). The order is confirmed subect to some modification regarding widths. This upgrade has taken a total of 18 years to achieve. Credit goes to Mid-Cornwall Bridleways Association. The first attempt failed, this attempt has succeeded by using evidence of use from 1937 to 1957. This judgement also highlights some useful principles of law for future judgements. The National Trust will shortly bemoving the kissing gate from the Path.

13 February 2007 - Budget Reprieve - After substantial lobbying the County Council has found alternative funding which has enabled the proposed cuts to the RoW budget be avoided. This is very good news for our paths network. - Sense has prevailed!
18 January 2007 - The County Council proposed to cut the Rights of Way Budget by over £200k - If this cut was confirmed it would be likely that all the renovation work under the PPIPS program would have to be halted.
4 December - The new Pegasus Crossing at Turfdown, on the A38 nr Bodmin,has been finally commissioned and switched on. We had raised concerns with the initial installation over the width and siting of the horse path on the Cardinham side. We had a site visit with the Highways Agency and they have made some adjustments to the fence. They were unable to move the push button post further back.. Pegasus Crossing Picture and information

21 November - The National Trust versus Midcornwall Bridleways Association and Cornwall County Council - Public Inquiry has been held over three days to make a decision over the longstanding dispute over horse access Mingoose to Chapel Porth. We now await the Inspector's decision. The National Trust have continued to fight against this access over years.
