2013 Lane Clearance
Many of our members and their friends turned out to help with intruding vegetation over two weekends in January and February

Increasing government cut backs means that riders will have to help themselves to ensure we continue to have access to these valuable bridleways.
We managed to clear just about all the trouble spots and can now enjoy our riding without having to duck and dive.
Even if you can only offer an hour or so once a year please put your name down for this important work by contacting our email address.

CURRENT AFFAIRS

THIS SECTION WILL BE USED TO GIVE INFORMATION OF WHAT IS GOING ON

Meeting with Cornwall Council
We had a meeting recently (November 2012) with two managers connected with the environment section of Cornwall Council. This meeting covered various subjects around the difficulties of keeping the bridleways and Public Rights of Way (PROWs) maintained and accessible for users. We also discussed the possibility of having a hub of contact so that the public have one point of contact to report problems. If you do notice a problem with a bridleway please could you contact countryside@cormacltd.co.uk

It was noted that following Government cut backs there will be less money available in the future and any work undertaken by the council will be on a priority basis.

Riders will need to be willing to help themselves to ensure that we can continue to enjoy our off road trekking.

PREVIOUS ACTIVITIES
As a relatively young group we are trying to walk before we canter. PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO VIEW ALL THE INFORMATION

Group Meeting on 11th February 2013 This meeting acknowledged how much our group is changing with many key supporters, discussions were held on a range of topics including Insurance, financing, funding and activities. Minutes will be sent to Group Members and if requested via our email address.

Group meeting Monday 12th November 2012.This meeting was well attended so thanks to all who turned out. A number of topics were covered including: funding, lane clearance, social/fund raising activities and the possibility of getting better purchasing power for group members.

Griggs open day Saturday 29th September 2012. We were kindly offered another opportunity to have a table. We recruited over 30 members last time so very worthwhile. Unfortunately we were not able to get enough volunteers, so unable to attend. Thank you to all who took the trouble to contact us, even it you can't make it - it is nice to know you are out there!

Social Evening On 25th August 2012 in the form of a fundraising curry supper. This was held at the home of our members Anne and Michael. It was a good evening with excellent food cooked by Anne. Some members brought their partners so not all horsey talk, though it did give us a chance to catch up a few riding issues as well.

Some of our members ride out from the Tregongeeves Yard near Polgooth. They placed a collecting pot in the tack room and managed to raise £20.00 just by people putting in odd change. This is very encouraging and thanks to all who contributed.

KEEP OUR BRIDLEWAYS CLEAR OF RUBBISH

When using the bridleways please use the PDBG email: polgoothanddistrictbridleways@googlemail.com to report any rubbish, such as garden, builders' or other waste dumped in the lanes. Often what starts as a small pile can all too soon become a mountain making removal more difficult. Such waste can make the bridleway surface dangerous as it becomes dispersed over a period of time.
