Bridleways and Ridden Paths
The availability of bridleways and off road riding varies tremendously over the county.
Ordnance Survey Maps show all definitive bridleways and byways (and footpaths).However there are also many other ridden tracks and paths shown. However for many there is nothing to show there legal status. Many of these are ridden and there may be unrecorded bridleway rights on many of these including some definite footpaths.
Our new Online Interactive Riding Maps now show all the paths we believe are ridden as well as the definitive bridleways.
The maps are shown on Ordnance Survey 1:50000 maps. The Ordnance Survey Explorer series of maps. Scale 1: 25000 are clearer, but not at present available online here.
You may also report problems directly from the riding maps! Our riding maps give path information and photos where available. Also see our Bridleway Reports Pages that list all bridleways in each parish. These tell you and now show you where your 'official' local bridleways are. In some parishes bridleways are non existent!
Trails - Cornwall is well endowed with 'multiuse' trails. These are essentially 'posh' bridleways aimed at cyclists as well as riders and walkers:-

The Camel Trail - 17 mile
The Camel Trail which follows the River Camel from Wenford Bridge to Padstow. This is now fully open to Horse Riders. Bodmin to Padstow section is better for riding at quieter times. It is lovely trail and a very useful through route.

Mineral Tramways Trails This extensive trail network has been developed by Cornwall County Council ovger the last 7 years. The final trail sections will be completed later this year.

Great Flat Lode Trail - 7 miles - This trail is a circular Trail, South of Camborne and Redruth, around the extensive mine workings of the old 'Great Flat Lode'.
Coast to Coast Trail - 11 miles - This Trails runs from Devoran on the South Coast to Portreath on the North Coast.

The Clay Trails - 12 miles
The
Clay Trails are an extensive trail network over the old China Clay workings north
of St Austell and around the Eden Project.
